In July 2022, Mosaic Forest Management hosted community field walks on Mosaic’s private managed forest lands at the Gorge and Blue Jay areas. These walks provided an opportunity for in-person engagement and a chance to see the planned harvest locations following initial field work. Please visit the link below for maps that were shared during the field walks:
https://www.mosaicforests.com/cortes-island-activity-update Thank you to the Cortes Island residents and community groups who attended our community field walks and for your engagement to date. We appreciate the community’s interest in our activities and plans.
Field assessments of the Gorge and Blue Jay areas will be continued, over the coming weeks.
At our open house meeting on May 17, community members expressed interest in purchasing some or all of Mosaic’s private managed forest lands on Cortes Island. Mosaic continues to be open to conversations regarding fair proposals, as we continue to work on the 3-Year Plan. Please note that land transactions require considerable resources, time and committed parties on both sides.
We will continue sharing information with the community through various Cortes Island community groups, individuals, and on the Tideline. We also continue to be open to conversations with members of the community.
If you were unable to attend the community field walks and would like additional information, or if you have questions or comments, please contact Colin Koszman, Land Use Forester, at Colin.KoszmanMosaicForests.com
