Due to structural issues at the Heriot Bay terminal the garbage container truck will be limited to 1 container per trip until further notice. This seriously affects the operation of the Recycling. We ask at this time not to bring scrap metal, drywall, or construction type material.

We will accept household(kitchen garbage) all recycling for the building. electronics and paint products will also be accepted. B.C. ferries has no estimate of duration. Your co-operation is greatly needed for us to get through this especially in summer at our peak usage.

Reduced Weight Limit
Quadra Island (Heriot Bay) and Cortes Island (Whaletown)

A recent inspection of the ramp at Heriot Bay identified repairs that need to be completed. The weight limit for both Quadra Island (Heriot Bay) and Cortes Island (Whaletown) has been reduced from 39500 kgs to 37500 kgs a result. This reduced weight limit will be in place until repair work is completed and further assessment has concluded it is safe.

Effective immediately, there will be no weight or axel exemptions for the Herriot Bay ramp/apron.

Until further notice:

Speed will be reduced to 15 km.

Max weight is 37,500 on 5 axels.

Tandem axle group is reduced to 15,000 kgs (max 7,500 kg per axle).

Tridem axle group is reduced to 15,000 kgs (max 5,000 kg per axle).

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the reduced weight limit and appreciate your patience while we work to resolve the issue and get back to regular service as quickly as possible. Updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
