As the Fall approaches we are getting excited in anticipation for the pilot semester of the Cortes Island Academy!
For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Cortes Island Academy is an experiential, place-based high school program in partnership with School District 72.
Thanks to community support we have achieved our fundraising goal and are now looking to sort out the last remaining barrier to the success of the program: Homestays.
We are currently looking for Homestay placements for 6 more students on Cortes Island. As most of our students are from coastal BC, the Homestays we are looking for will likely not be entirely full-time. The school week will run from mid-day Monday to mid-day Friday with the option for students to return home for the weekend. There will be 4-5 day breaks between each of the four, 5 week courses offered as well as winter break inline with the School District’s schedule. The program will run from September 2022 to the end of January 2023.
If you are interested in taking on a Homestay student, please follow the link below. There will be compensation available for hosting a Homestay student. The amount of compensation will depend on whether the Homestay is part-time or full-time.
