We are pleased to have some special guests presenting at the AGM
The Cortes Community Forest Cooperative and the Cortes Forestry General
Partnership have worked with RPF Andrea Lang for several years. She
guided our ground-truthing of provincial data. More recently, she has
used Woodlots for Windows, a computer model which uses provincial data
to show how different harvest scenarios affect forest volume and age
over a 250 year period. At the CCFC AGM, she will present these modeling
capabilities and results which are very interesting and of upmost importance to future planning.
The Community Forest can provide a steady supply of high quality wood to
value added entrepreneurs. Islanders can make the most of the
opportunities created by our community forest by using the wood on the
island to create good jobs. Three persons already doing this will
present the challenges and opportunities of using community forest wood,
Laurier Louie Mathieu (faller), Hannu Huuskonen (wood worker), and Aaron
Ellingsen (miller).
