Hello All
As we now see, Mosaic/Island Timberlands has just posted that they will be hosting an open house to discuss their proposed 3-year logging plans for Cortes Island, at the Gorge Hall on Tuesday, May 17th from 10-2:30.
Although various parties, myself included, have advised Mosaic that the community expectation here is for community meetings where we all get to hear each other's voices, rather than open houses, they have chosen to proceed with a mid-day open house. I had asked that they rather hold it in the later afternoon or evening to increase participation. However, because they are bringing a team of 6-8 experts to share information and answer our detailed operational questions, all of their schedules cannot accommodate an overnight from town.
So... I then suggested that they hold the open house format from 10-12, where people can mill about from station to station talking one-on-one to members of their team, and then anyone who wanted to come for a more community gathering-style engagement be encouraged to come at noon and set up chairs accordingly. She, of course needed to take this idea back to her team, but thought it could be workable. I advised that I would be sharing this suggestion with the community - so here I am doing just that. I am suggesting that, if you want to participate in a gathering of minds and voices, noon will likely be the best time to do that... but of course it will be what it will be with many voices and a community mind.
Blessings to you all.
Warmly, Noba Anderson
