Please FireSmart your home and property by bringing excess wood debris to the end of your driveway by 9:00 am Sunday June 19th. Depending on how many residents participate, it may take a couple of days for the chipper to get to your property, but we will have several chippers on the island to try and complete this service as quickly as possible. Debris will be disposed of for free as part of the FireSmart Community Chipper program through the 2022 Community Resiliency Investment grant.
The wood chips will be disposed of on the island in collaboration with the Friends of Cortes Island, Cortes Island Garden Club, Linnaea Farm and Cortes Community Housing Society. No sign-up is required but if you feel your driveway may be hard to locate then please let us know and we’ll put you on a special list. Please keep in mind the chipper is not authorized to enter into private property.
