CCEDA - Kate
The Cortes Community Economic Development Association (CCEDA) has organized a volunteer work party for Saturday, May 7, from 9 til noon to help rake wood chips around a grove of cedar trees on the Village Commons.

Cedars are shallow-rooted and prone to drought stress, but this stress can be reduced by mulching around the trees with wood chips. The piles of wood chips on the Village Commons land will be raked all around the cedar trees to help trap and maintain moisture in the soil.

The cedar grove is just downslope of the Village Commons gathering space in Manson's Landing behind the radio station. This grove offers shade and relief from the hot summer sun for visitors to Manson's Landing.

Please bring your rakes, pitch forks, and wheelbarrows, but if you don't have these tools, just bring yourself! Your assistance is greatly needed and appreciated to help keep the Commons land beautiful.
