Trude Albright-Sweeney turned 89 on April 24th! And sometime this spring or summer she will be leaving our fair island to move back to Rochester, New York to live with her daughter and be around her family.
You are cordially invited to a celebration for Trude on May 1st at the Gorge Hall from 1 to 5pm. Trude has asked for "no presents please", she has enough of everything! We will have the event outdoors, as the forecast looks good, for health and safety of all.
We are looking for finger food type potluck items, but could be anything really. Please email Rebeka at bekinbcgmail.com and let her know what you are planning to bring. It’s also ok to “wing it” with your potluck dish too!
I remember Trude's 75th and 80th birthdays at the Gorge Hall, as well as many celebrations we had at Trude's Café. There is one thing that Trude has always been in the centre of, and that is community. Trude's Café was our community gathering space for so many years, with Trude’s delicious cakes and coffees a focal point of many a day. You could often hear Trude singing in the kitchen and her dream was to have a Café where people could ‘pay what they wanted’ and ‘take what they needed’. This kind, happy and generous woman is one of a kind! Let’s give her a send-off she will remember!
