Going ahead in the rain under tents! Dress warmly! Bring a chair or two if you can.
Mosaic, the front facing image of Island Timberland, invited people to join them a month ago on a zoom call to hear about their draft logging plans for their private managed forest lands on Cortes Island. Maps were shared on the screen at that time but nothing has yet been shared publicly. That being said, enough information was shared then to enough of you who have shaped forestry activities on this island for more than a generation. Enough information was shared to have sparked many conversations about how we as an island may choose to respond. Mosaic/Island Timberlands has promised further community engagement later in the spring. In anticipation of that, some of you have begun to collaborate, dig up historical information, walk the lands and vision.
Many who have approached me want to create a facilitated and supportive space for us to come together and share information with each other. In support of this, I have offered to help host this open community conversation.
Please join us, Saturday, March 12 at 3 pm for a covered outdoor gathering on the Village Commons land next to Manson's Hall.
In gratitude for this beautiful community we share.
