I reached out to Telus, CityWest (Connected Coast), Klahoose and Tla’amin to join me on a tightly-hosted and respectful community zoom meeting to discuss Telus proposals on Cortes Island and associated connectivity issues to support you in your efforts to respond to Telus by their January 31st public comment deadline for their proposed tower at Paukeanum. (Please see my details article from last week at https://www.cortesisland.com/tideline/show14234a0x50y1z/Telus_Towers_Input_Open_-_Relationship_with_Connected_Coast
Both Telus and CityWest declined to join such a meeting. Telus stated that “(we) are discussing consultation activities with Tla’amin Nation as part of the formal consultation process and we will share additional information when it is available.” CityWest stated “There has been many interviews and information out there already about what CityWest plans to do with communication on Cortes and more to come soon. Also, Connected Coast has lots of information out there as well on what the goal and plan is for our community.” I have not heard back from Tla’amin and, although Klahoose is willing, I will not be proceeding with hosting a community zoom meeting on this topic in the absence of the key invited resource people.
However, Manda has invited me to speak to the matter on Folk-U this Friday the 28th from 1-3 on CKTZ 89.5 FM. There is always a call-in component, so I invite you to listen and/or call in.
Thanks, Noba Anderson
