‘Tis the season of creating light in the darkest time of year, for sharing food, warmth and stories, for gathering with dear ones, and for giving gratitude for all the gifts received.
The Cortes Seniors Society (CISS) and the Housing Society (CHS) are so very grateful to this amazing community for the generosity of your volunteer time, your spirit of support, for your donations of pennies-pounds-and even property to our cause for much needed affordable rental housing.
Thanks to all of you, last year we completed construction of new cottages in the Seniors Village, which are now providing homes to 10 appreciative elders. Your generous donations have been instrumental towards securing the Rainbow Ridge lands into community hands, where we look forward to building 20 more family rental homes for residents of all ages. In the New Year, we will start improving the public trail on this property. One day there will be a protected forest path all the way from Mansons Village leading south towards Smelt Bay.
Your tax-deductible gifts continue to keep the dream alive and the vision burning bright; together we are creating a place where future residents will finally have a place to call home for the holidays and our whole island will be more vibrant and alive with our positive collective energies.
For all your gifts and encouragement, we will forever be grateful to this community and for those who would like to join our band of merry men, women, and children – there is still time to add a little something to our Christmas stocking before year-end by visiting:
