CORTES BAY OUTSTATION

A fulltime single or couple is required as manager for the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club Cortes Bay Outstation, located on Cortes Island B.C. This property has a 4/5 anchor Clean Marine ranking from the Georgia Strait Alliance, and we are looking for an environmentally conscious couple to help us maintain this beautiful property. The outstation consists of a large waterfront property and another property totalling 19 acres with 2 tent pads, a shower building, washrooms, a pavilion & member’s kitchen area and large deck.

The marina has 1600 lineal ft of dock and can moor up to 60+ vessels (rafted) at one time and is often full during open season from April to September. This position will require someone with a strong independent work ethic, as around the clock maintenance and upkeep is needed.

Responsibilities include:
Maintenance of Docks & Infrastructure
Septic Tank (monitoring & scheduled clean out)
Operation & Maintenance of Water System, BBQ, kayaks, sup’s & bicycles
Spill response in case of oil/diesel/gasoline spill in water
Regular cleaning & upkeep of the showers, washrooms, pavilion, & member kitchen inc. laundry stove etc.
Gardening & Grounds-keeping
Garbage & Recycling coordination with local contact for pick up
Maintenance & repairs of pump & emergency equipment
Member Relations & assistance on call
Regular day to day maintenance
Assistance with capital upgrades where required.
Off season winterizing of the systems & maintenance
Regular communication with the Marine Asset and Operations Manager
We are looking for someone with:
Extensive knowledge in grounds maintenance
Marina experience an asset.
Basic electrical/plumbing/carpentry skills
Hospitality experience
A valid BC Driver’s license
Must either have, or receive training for (provided by RVYC):
Spill Response Certificate
1st aid certificate
A Pleasure Craft Operators Card
Water Safe BC
Respectful workplace training
WHMIS training

Must have a community spirit with the ability to cultivate professional relationships with members, trades, and neighbours to work towards an improved member experience and maintained relationship with the Cortes Island community.
