Seasonal FLU vaccine
Public Health held their annual seasonal FLU clinic on Cortes on Oct 27. If you were not able to get a vaccine at that clinic your options are:
1. To make an appointment at a pharmacy in town. There may be some pharmacies that will do walk-in clients, so you’ll need to phone around. Both Walmart and the Superstore pharmacies are doing walk-ins.
2. The Cortes Health Centre will have limited amounts of seasonal flu vaccine in the next couple of months. Please call and add your name to the waiting list. This is dependent on supplies that we receive from Public Health and also on our staffing, so trying to get a pharmacy appointment in town might be quicker for you if you are going there.
COVID vaccine
The Cortes Health Centre staff do not give the COVID vaccine and do not book appointments for these.
If you have registered for your 1st vaccine you will receive an invitation when it is your turn to make an appointment for your 2nd or 3rd vaccine.
Appointments for COVID vaccines, either 1st, 2nd or 3rd, are booked through the provincial COVID vaccine booking phone line 1-888-838-2323 or through the website: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/register#register
There will be limited appointments for COVID vaccines at the regular Public Health visits to the Cortes Health Centre on the fourth Wednesday of each month. There are no walk-ins available at these times- you MUST book an appointment ahead thru the provincial COVID vaccine website (see above) or by calling the main booking phone line 1-888-838-2323.
There is also a walk-in COVID Vaccine clinic in the Tyee Plaza in Campbell River on Wednesdays to Saturday from 0900-1530.
*Just a reminder, the Cortes Health Centre does not provide COVID testing for travel. If you need to have this done there are different options available on Vancouver Island, with Nanaimo being the closest location.
