Call For Community Involvement!
Cortes Island School is launching our NAT (Nature As Teacher) Program this September. This outdoor, arts-based program will be led by Dayna Davis who brings 30 years experience and passion for connecting children with the natural world and expression through visual art, movement, and song.
This program lends itself to community involvement! If you have an interest in natural history and would like to share your knowledge and enthusiasm with Cortes Island children, please consider getting involved!
We will be exploring our local ecosystems through inquiry-based, hands-on activities. These activities can involve anything from bird identification, sharing your rock or feather collection, building insect habitats, showing a group how to build a debris hut or forest shelter, creating Andy Goldsworthy nature art, gathering medicinal plants, making salves or herbal teas, mushroom walks and low tide explorations. The possibilities are endless.
Dayna will work with you to set up the activity, be there to support you in the delivery and provide group management.
