Janet Forsyth
Dear Kindergarten Parents,

In September, there will be a gradual entry for your kindergarten student into our K-2 Cortes School Primary classroom.

All kindergarten classes in School District 72 implement gradual entry to provide a smoother transition for children into a full day kindergarten program.

Gradual entry provides one-on-one time for kindergarteners with their teacher and an opportunity for children to adjust to new routines in the early weeks of school.

Here is our schedule for September:
Week 1
Wednesday September 8 and Friday September 10: Half day - 8:45-noon

Week 2 (week of September 13-17)
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Half days 8:45-noon

Week 3 (week of September 20-24 onward)
Kindergarten Students in class full time

Adapted schedules for kindergarten students past the 2nd week of September may be discussed and arranged with your class teacher during Week 2.

Please consider delaying the use of the school bus for your kindergartener if possible until he or she has settled into classroom routines. If you need support with connecting with other families to carpool, please contact Janet in the office.

If you have not registered your child for Kindergarten, please give Janet in the office a call at 935-6313 or send an email (cortessd72.bc.ca) to arrange a time to come in. The school office will be open on September 3rd.

Thank you. We are very excited about working with our new kindergarten students this school year.

Claudia Barnes (Your new primary teacher!)
