Join our annual Heron Count!
*note - - edited to choose a day with a decent low-tide!
The Pacific Great Blue Heron is a species-at-risk 'of special concern' (which means it is vulverable and on its way to being threatened or endangered).
One way to keep track of how they're doing is to count them!
We'll be doing a count in as many places around the island Sunday Sept. 5 in the morning for about an hour between 10AM-12PM.
Please get in touch to sign up and get a unique location (so we don't count any twice).
Email is best, phone works too (0087).
As always, if you see any nests, active or otherwise, we want to hear about that too.
This effort is under the guidance of an ecosystems biologist from the BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development.
