I remember the times, before many of you were even born, when families gathered around the Radio to listen to Stories or a Play, Music or Sports as a Family. I remember listening to Roger Bannister breaking the four- minute mile record on the radio from Britain, (and now I am really dating myself). This was world news and created so much excitement.
As Richard Jacobs said in his article recently, about radio drama, Theatre of the Mind, without screens, to 'spoon-feed' our imaginations. Indeed, up until the Seventies/Eighties in Canada, before the Mulroney Government cut the CBC budget, there was great Canadian Drama on the the CBC Radio.
