Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has announced that invitations are now being sent out for second doses of COVID-19 vaccines at 8 weeks from the time of the first dose being administered.
Island Health conducted a whole community clinic on Cortes Island in March,
and therefore residents who were vaccinated at that time should be receiving invitations to book second doses. If you had your first dose more than eight weeks ago, but have not received a notification to book your second dose by Saturday, May 29, you may not be registered in the provincial vaccination booking system. Please register
by going to www.GetVaccinated.gov.bc.ca
or call 1-833-838-2323 for support.
Island Health’s immunization teams will return to Cortes Island to provide second doses, along with first doses for those who have not yet been vaccinated including 12-17 year olds. This second dose clinic will be held on Cortes Island before July 1.
Once the date is confirmed, we will notify the community at least 48 hours
before we open for booking into these clinics.
Residents who have received notification they are eligible for their second dose are encouraged to wait to book when the clinic takes place in your community. However, people may choose to try to book earlier into an ongoing clinic in the closest major centre, such as Campbell River.
