Dear Cortes Islanders

Have you wondered how ESS supports families that are displaced by disasters such as a house fire? ESS volunteers can help people find short-term accommodation, meals and clothing through vouchers as well as supporting the reunification of family members who have been separated. Cortes Island ESS volunteers deliver these supports locally to our friends and neighbours who have been impacted.

In preparation for wildfire season, Cortes Island ESS is currently recruiting new members (we currently have 6 members on our team). Whether you are interested in deploying, training, administration, or even assisting behind-the-scenes on your own time, there is a role for you. This program has been adapted to respect the physical distancing requirements of Covid-19 and the safety of volunteers is our top priority.

A volunteer information session will be held virtually Wednesday June 16th 7:00 - 8:00 pm
