The Young Musicians Bursary Program would like to announce that it is no longer going to run in its current organizational capacity. The folks involved have moved on to other interests and we wanted to disperse the funds. In an effort to be transparent with the community, as we did raise funds from you, we want you to know that we had $1188.60 in our bank account, which we closed.
The best way we felt to distribute the funds true to our mission of supporting youth in taking individual lessons, was to ask the staff at the Cortes School to pick three students who have shown interest in taking music lessons.
So we would like to offer congratulations to Amber George, Amara Lewis, Elise and Dylan Wise, and Azaria Howells. Though that's more than three students there is a family with three children in there.
Over the years it has been an honor to help bring the community together to celebrate our children, wherever they are in their learning to express themselves through music. Many people have been involved over the years, and it has been almost 2 years since our last Young Musicians Concert. Thank you to Theresa Hargrave, Leonard Woywitka, all the kitchen volunteers and bakers, sound people and ticket takers. Most of all thank you to the kids who worked hard to learn their instruments, and to take a chance to get on stage and express themselves, Bravo!
