The correct # to apply by phone for the B.C. RECOVERY BENEFIT:

Thank you Gypsy Mama for letting me know there was a typo, my apologies!

And then a follow up note from her to me:

Hi Ester,
I clicked on the number from the gov web page, so I donít think it was wrong on your posting.

When I called, my phone said that number in United States, so I didnít wait for it to ring through and double checked the number along with my dialing and they were all matching.
There is another time a few years back when I called our BC health services and discovered I was talking to an American answering at phone centre in Washington, because when she didnít know that zed is the last letter in the alphabet, I asked about her workplace location.

My Tideline posting was twofold:
1) To point out that our BC gov is paying Americans to answer phone calls involving personal information instead of employing Canadians to administrate the BC Recovery Benefit.
2 without being secondary) To sincerely thank you for posting these kinds of public announcements, often with their official web links so itís easy to apply or get more details. Thank you, I know this requires an extra effort and time on your lap and I really appreciate having the Tideline connecting our community.

Would you please post my short note about the phone number going to United States. I feel itís appropriate for people to know where that number goes. You are welcome to include any of my past experience I shared above, if you feel that clarifies why Iím pointing out that the number we call to apply for the BC Recovery Benefit is going to a call centre in United States.
