Thank you for your patience yesterday. We could not have humanly gone any faster. The kitchen is small and serving 300 warm meals with only 3 people was challenging.
None of this would have been possible without the help of the following individuals, organizations, and businesses.
First of all, these free meals would not have been possible without the financial support of the Whaletown Community Club and the Gorge Harbour Marina. The free use of the restaurant space was very generous and made all this possible.
The biggest thanks goes to Shiva. You are a rock star! You didn't sign up for this madness!! You get sucked into our crazy projects and keep impressing us with your loyalty, dedication, hard work and sense of humour. Thank you for putting up with us and coming into the kitchen to help. We know that was not the plan.
Thanks also to Gabriel, Arpad and Yulia for keeping everyone entertained and relaxed while everyone waited for their meals. You guys are troopers!
Thank you to the Nielsen and Wright sisters who made and donated 400 uniquely and beautifully decorated cookies. You asked how you could help and we jokingly asked for 400 cookies...
Thank you to Tammy and Bill and the Gorge Harbour Marina staff for providing the turkeys and all the fixings. And for letting us take more than our share of red onions.
Thank you Carly and the CO-OP bakery staff for baking 250 cookies at the last minute.
Thank you to Gathering place for donating all the salt, pepper, poultry spices and nutmeg.
Thank you to Sarah at Reef Point Farm for the carrots, Steph Asbeck for the roasting garlic and Bob and Sheryl for the potatoes & carrots.
Thank you to all the people who donated funds to the WCC so they can continue to bring our community together in pleasant and unexpected ways.
Thank you Jim Kearney and the SCCA for the use of big pots and warming trays.
We also would like to thank everyone who offered to help. We really appreciate the outpouring of support, kind words and encouragement.
We truly do live in a magical and amazing community and we hope we managed to make this Holiday season a little brighter. You all definitely made our Christmas 2020 one to remember.
Happy Holidays to all of you and may the New Year bring you health, peace and joy.
