On behalf of the Cortes Island Seniors Society (CISS) I am writing with deep appreciation for your continuing support and recognition of the urgent need for affordable rental housing. You already helped us to build 4 new Seniors Village cottages and purchase the Rainbow Ridge land legacy.

As you may already know, BC Housing has many worthy projects come across their desk from around the province and we are competing for their funds. We have been told that our chances of gaining their sponsorship for the building of 20 affordable rental homes on Rainbow Ridge (approximate value of $8 million into this community) is vastly increased if the land upon which those houses are to be built is held without any outstanding debt.

I am presenting a concept to completely retire Rainbow Ridge’s $445,000 land loans. We have a pledge by a new anonymous donor for a maximum of $320,000 and our existing loan holders have been inspired to donate an additional $42,300.

Can you help us by contributing towards the final $82,700?

Doing so by December 31/2020 would mean that Rainbow Ridge has little or no debt, giving us the very best chance of winning the new BC Housing grant.

All donations will receive a Canadian charitable receipt from the CISS–Housing Committee. You can donate online now via this link:

OR send a cheque to: Cortes Island Seniors Society–Housing Committee: PO BOX 27, Mansons Landing, BC, V0P 1K0.

American donors can get an US tax deductible receipt via TIDES-US Foundation by designating your donation to Cortes Community Housing Fund – 2250 via this link:

Please know we are deeply grateful that you have stood beside us on this important community project. Thanks to you – it’s happening!

With gratitude,
Sandra Wood, Housing Co-ordinator
