Good evening Cortesians. An update on the local Klahoose Covid19 situation. We have now had 4 confirmed Covid19 positive cases. We are continuing to test our residents with symptoms until further notice. Contact tracing is ongoing. We are now in a state of emergency which came into effect today. I called this state of an emergency to get a better handle on things before it could become worse. I want to reassure the Cortes Community that our security has been very tight of no one coming in and no one going out, except for supplies, essential deliveries, emergency services and front line workers, with a crew working 24/7 to make sure we do contain the spread. Today we’ve expanded our medical crew on the ground with an additional nurse, the support of the local doctor on duty, and more staff in general. This makes a big difference in our management of the situation. I feel blessed on having such a dedicated crew in each department of our Emergency Operations Center. Once again I would like to thank the islanders for the firewood deliveries, we have a good supply now, and everyday I hear how much it means to our check point and security crew to witness your generosity, your love and your offering to help us at this challenging time. To everyone reaching out we will keep you posted. We are also wanting to thank the local fire department, the ambulance and the RCMP for their unwavering support, we recognize how valuable it is to have any one of these services available to us being as remote as we are. Emote.
