Exciting news – the rezoning of Rainbow Ridge is approved! Thank you to the SRD, thank you to all who wrote letters, and thank you for continuing to show up in support of this important affordable housing project. Never has the saying, “it takes a community to raise a village” been more true, and our community is about to raise a new a village in the heart of Mansons Landing thanks to you.

The notion of home, the fact of having a home, and the deep feeling for the many who do not, has become more poignant than ever. My thoughts have turned once again with renewed appreciation to the massive effort the Cortes Island community has made to ensure that more residents in need of a home might actually have a chance of having one.

We are almost there. The next step is to finish raising the remaining $127,000 to reach our fundraising goal of $1.7 million. Wherever you may be right now, in Canada, the USA or half way around the globe, please support the continued building of housing for those who need it on Cortes Island. You can help take us over the finish line before the end of 2020.

Donate to Housing

For our friends south of the Canadian border, we have worked with the Tides Foundation to ensure that any donation made to the Cortes Community Housing Fund will be provided with a USA tax deductible receipt. If you agree that it is important to secure a good future for Cortes, by balancing housing inequality, then you can help to protect and preserve one small neck of the woods that provides us with so much peace and the hope of what is possible when we work together. It is, after all, home to all of us.

USA-based donors can make cash contributions using a Credit Card or Paypal; you can donate directly to the Tides Foundation by simply choosing our fund name and number: Cortes Community Housing Fund – 2250 in the ‘select a designation’ field via this link:

US Donations

If you prefer to make a USA donation with a Cheque, Electronic Funds Transfer, or contribute Securities (like stocks, bonds, mutual funds) and Cryptocurrencies (such as bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin and others), then please ask me for details on how to receive a USA tax receipt.

In gratitude,

Sandra Wood, on behalf of
