We are pleased to announce the results of our Great Blue Heron Count Day on August
This is our 3rd annual Pacific Great Blue Heron (PGBH) count, and this year we counted a total of 20 herons.
We had 9 and 10 observations reported during the Heron counts in 2018 and 2019.
We have collated the results for 2020 and input it into a map to show the distribution of the sightings; as seen above.
The more records that we collect on these birds and the more that we learn, the more we can do as a community to protect the PGBH and their habitats.
We’d like to thank all of the folks who took part in the 3rd Annual PGBH Count!
It is very helpful for our records to monitor their population size around the island and share this information with coastal ecologists.
