FOCI - Autumn
Did you know that the Salish Sea is home to half of the earth’s population of the Pacific Great Blue Heron?

Friends of Cortes Island is keen to learn more about our local population of this iconic bird, through our annual Great Blue Heron Count.

Why not join us as we hit the beaches Friday 28th Aug between 8 -10am? All you need to do is to pick your beach spot, bring a recording sheet, a cuppa, sit quietly and watch for herons for an hour (even half an hour would be great).

To take part, please email autumn.focigmail.com to receive your recording sheet.

Many thanks in advance, and a big thank you to the folks that have participated in previous years! Let’s keep up this data collection and see how many we count this year!
