I know there is a great deal of uncertainty right now in the world because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and our communities (Quadra, Cortes, and Read) are not immune. The truth is the situation is changing by the hour, and there is no one alive today that has lived through something like this. The world is a different place than is was during the last global pandemic.
Effective immediately, the Quadra Island RCMP is suspending front counter service. Routine matters such as Criminal Record Checks and fingerprinting will be put on hold. Non urgent matters can still be reported to our regular line at 250-285-3631. We will take reports and follow up on minor incidents by phone when practical, for the public's safety and our own.
We are still available for emergencies 24/7 to deal with 911 calls. There are four, very dedicated members, stationed on Quadra to cover these Islands, and currently we are all healthy. We must minimize our exposure to ensure we are available as first responders in emergency situations.
We ask that all residents minimize their own exposure by utilizing social distancing. Please take the time to conduct an inventory of your household and ensure you have what you need. Our local stores are well stocked and there is no need to begin hoarding items, however you should have enough supplies at home in the event you are required to self isolate.
I do not have answers to many of the questions that I am receiving daily. The Island District RCMP is holding teleconferences daily to update all Detachments as things unfold, and I will do my best to keep our communities updated as I receive information.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause people, and I appreciate your understanding,
Cpl. Sean Bulford
