“I breathe once every 6 minutes during my deep winter slumber.
It is unlikely that you will ever see me on Feb 1, but certainly not on Cortes.
My scientific species name is ‘marmota monax’.
What am I?”
Join us on our monthly nature walk into the Children’s Forest on Groundhog Day, Sunday, Feb 2. All are welcome, and we are especially encouraging families to come out together to explore in wonder & fun together. Perhaps we may even see a glimpse of a shy woodchuck!
We will leave from the Coulter Bay trailhead at 10:00 am, and return by 2:00 pm (or 3:00 pm. if that is best for children). Families who wish to turn back sooner are most welcome to do so.
We will walk in sun or rain, and will be navigating major puddles, so PLEASE wear rubber boots, and bring hearty snacks & lunch. We welcome new hikers, but please leave dogs behind out of respect for wild creatures.

flash, splash, crash, I am so wet,
and covered in mud"
