About 50 people came to Linnaea last Thursday for the Making It On Cortes event.
Many thanks to our mentor/advisors for the practical tools and ideas they shared! Thanks, Jenny Hartwick, Eric Hargrave, Irene Blueth, Jenny Evans, Mark Lombard, Jereamie Peacock, Aaron Ellingsen, Brady Calancie, Anne Dzakovic, and Whitney Vanderleest.
Many thanks to Kirsten Vidulich for the delicious food and her above-and-beyond flexibility in helping us with the format.
Many thanks to our co-sponsors: Cortes Community Health Association Family Support Program, Folk University and Cortes Community Economic Development Association.
And to the organizers: Loni Taylor, Manda Aufochs-Gillespie, Brittany Baxter, Adam McKenty, Maureen Williams, and Nick Gagnon. Great to work with you all!
From the Community Forest Co-op perspective, that table had between 15 and 30 people throughout the evening. It was super encouraging to hear all the good ideas from people who want to take advantage of the economic opportunities offered by the community forest.
The sponsoring groups plan to provide more support using the information which participants gave us at the event. We will count our success in the number of people who are able to cultivate the living they choose on Cortes!
