The Harbour Authority of Cortes Island is pleased to announce that the Squirrel Cove dock will be receiving large scale maintenance and upgrades this spring. In addition to a new float and steel pilings for the northern portion of the dock, the height of the existing piles on the south float will be increased. An archeological assessment was completed over the summer by Small Craft Harbours, and archaeological monitoring will occur during the pile driving work. The Harbour Authority will be working with Small Craft Harbours to ensure that this project has as little impact on facility users as possible, and we hope to have these improvements completed before the busy summer months.
