Mansonís Lagoon, Sunday, December 22, 5:00 pm, 2019.
Bring your homemade boat or floating creation to a community celebration of light & magic! Mansonís Lagoon spit on Sunday, December 22 at 5:00 pm. Young and old, locals and visitors, merry of heart, but please leave 4-legged friends at home.
Make sure that your boat or creation is earth-friendly: use wood, paper bags, tissue paper; you can replace the aluminum casing around tealights with shortened toilet paper rolls. Be simple or elaborate. Tealights on a flat board work well, but check that your boat floats, and you will find that a paper wind screen greatly extends the candle life.
Bring matches and wear gumboots. The tide will be ebbing, so boats will likely do best if launched outside the lagoon off Mansonís spit. A piece of dry wood for the beach fire would be appreciated.
Please park in the parking lot to keep car lights off the lagoon and minimize erosion around the lagoon shore.
May hearts be light and joyful!!
