CIMAS - Gina
Saturday, December 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meet in Whaletown or Manson's.
So, grab binoculars and join the Cortes Museum for our annual Christmas Bird Count.
We will count birds from 9 am to noon, then from 1 pm to 4 pm, with a break for lunch at the Museum. Come to the morning count or afternoon count, or both. We will be divided into smaller groups, each with an experienced bird count leader. With groups starting in Whaletown and in Manson's, we will cover the best birding locations on the island, Squirrel Cove included.
Bring your own lunch. The Museum will provide warm space, tea and coffee, cookies and hot apple cider.
All participants must pre-register. To register or for more information, call the Museum at 250-935-6340 (leave a message, if we are not at the phone) or send us an email to cimastwincomm.ca.
A small donation to cover expenses is appreciated.
Christmas Bird Count: Between 14 December 2019 and 5 January 2020, tens of thousands of bird and winter enthusiasts will rally together to count millions of birds across the continent as part of the 120th year of this long-running wildlife survey.
