Strong trusting relationships give adults the power to parent and teach children. Our confidence to guide and lead the children in our lives depends on their attachment to us. We have to matter… more than peers and more than pop culture. The foundation of confidence, empathy and resilience in children is built on deep caring connections with adults in family, school and community. How can we best put our focus on what matters most? What choices can we make to align with our deepest understandings of the needs of children?

In these 2 video sessions Gordon Neufeld gives an introduction to his relational/developmental approach to parenting. We will watch the videos together and have time to discuss the material and bring it into the context of our lives.

These sessions will bring insight into aggression, tantrums and oppositional behaviour, discipline practices, challenges with food, separation anxiety, peer attachments and support for co-parenting after divorce.

The discussion will be led by Dayna Davis, B.Ed., Certified Neufeld Institute Course Facilitator and K-1 teacher at Cortes Island School. Dayna has worked with children for 30 years, is a parent of 2 young adults and believes that we change the world as we understand and honour children.

Sponsored by the Cortes Community Health Association Family Support Program.
