Two young women-artists return to their island of memories and celebrate this with a collaborative treat of evocative paintings, sketches, found sculptures, and sounds.
Hannah Petkau and Francesca Belcourt combined their talents, ( literally! ), on each work. At times, in the case of the drawings on the North wall, they would trade pieces to complete them, combining points of view even with the soundscape that played continually to evoke memories and snippets of their growing up on this island.
The central floor piece too, pooled (double meaning intended) their talents with found beach objects around Cortes. (This observer was convinced several passages of the soundscape were aquatic.)
This is a totally immersive exhibition and I encourage you to attend and enjoy it.
Friday August 2, 6 to 9 pm, the artists will be facilitating a community drawing collaboration in the spirit of POOLING. Materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own.
This Show continues Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, 2 to 6 PM and Friday, Saturday and Sunday August 2, 3 and 4.
