Lynne Jordan wishes to graciously thank the Board and staff of the Cortes Museum for the amazing honour of their new Welcome Gate dedicated to Joe and Lynne in recognition of considerable volunteer commitments over many years. The celebration of this gate and the opening of the summer exhibits on Sunday was a great party with so many supportive friends of the Museum attending to enjoy lemonade, watermelon and yummy chocolate cake under the spreading heritage apple trees. Rose Hanson & her daughter Brenda welcomed everyone with drums and song, inviting guests to join in. Background harp and guitar music for the afternoon in the Heritage Garden was beautifully supplied by Laurel Bohart and Holly Ann Dobb. Thanks girls! My sincere thanks also go to Mark Appleyard who came out of retirement to create this amazing gate. Joe would have loved it!
It has been my great pleasure to shepherd the Cortes Museum over the past years into the driving community force that it has become. Of course the Museum couldn't have achieved this without the early vision and drive of May Ellingsen, and the sincere and unequaled dedication of so many Board members and volunteers over the years since 1996 when the society was formed. The new Welcome Gate opens up the Museum and invites visitors - and you - into its garden.
Thank you, Lynne!
