BioBlitz is a 24 hour intensive inventory of the fauna and flora of a given place.
Our place of choice… the Children’s Forest on Cortes Island. From noon on Saturday, May 4 through noon on Sunday, May 5, we will be assessing the biodiversity of this special place. Youth leadership is this year’s focus; join a Cortes youth and learn about the natural history of the Children’s Forest while we conduct our 2019 inventory.

Our BioBlitz! 2019 base camp, will be Carrington Bay Park campsite. Families joining in the Community Campout, Friday, May 3– Sunday, May 5, are required to register with us. Please e-mail to register. All logistical information is in the registration documents and there is no charge for registration.

NEW THIS YEAR…is our Short-legged Program, for our youngest Forest Tribe demographic! FTCCIS directors, Hayley Newell and Isabel Steigemann, will be offering natural history programming and good old play, in the near vicinity to base camp, while the Long-legged Program wanders further afield.

Here is a general schedule for the weekend; always subject to change and ever shape-shifting!!! Enjoy embracing the natural world as primary teacher! Place-based, experiential education at it’s best, and calling out to all Cortes youth!
