The Harbour Authority of Cortes is pleased to announce that it will once again offer the Harbour Authority Bursary award. Two bursaries of up to $750 each will be awarded to individuals of any age and educational level wishing to pursue education or skill development that relates to Cortes Island’s harbours or associated economic development. Preference will be given to Cortes Island residents with a focus on skill sets not currently supported within the community. Examples include outboard maintenance, dock engineering, welding, fabrication, spill management, marine emergency preparedness etc.

Youth Summer job opportunity
Youth aged 15 to 30 are invited to apply to the Harbour Authority of Cortes Island as summer helper. This position runs from the beginning of July thru to the end of August, 30 hours per week. HACI is looking for a mature, friendly, self-reliant individual who is able to work as a team member as well as on their own. This position entails outdoor maintenance work, as well as office work. The ideal candidate possesses: good public relation skills, basic computer literacy, basic office and maintenance skills and the ability to work independently. Training will be provided. Must have accommodation on Cortes.

Year Round Employment Opportunity
The Harbour Authority of Cortes Island is looking to hire a Wharfinger/Maintenance person. This is a year-round, part-time position with regular scheduled shifts during the summer and casual shifts in the winter. This job entails administrative, dock maintenance and construction duties, and requires a motivated, customer service orientated individual who enjoys working as a team, as well as individually and has a basic understanding of carpentry. Must be available to work evenings/weekends, and must have own transportation. Previous marine experience an asset but not required.
