Thank you to all who came to help with the 10th Annual Gorge Harbour Cleanup! This year we had about 30 participants and a stunning day! Plenty of debris was picked up, but we continue to deal with styrofoam chips coating the beach.
It was a great day for the post-event BBQ. Many thanks to the Gorge Harbour Marina for providing coffee in the morning, BBQs, dock space and of course a fabulous venue! The BBQ was sponsored by Island SeaFarms this year, who also provided help, barges and boats. Paul came all the way up from Saltspring Island to lend a hand. Thank you Elijah Verschuur for hauling away the debris. Also thank you Heather and Michael Bruce for donating to help pay the fuel bill! But most of all, thanks to all the wonderful, caring people who came out and put their backs into keeping Gorge Harbour a beautiful place!!

Paul, the truck is actually at the end of the boat ramp. The concrete portion of the ramp ends quite high up so yes, the truck is on gravel, but it's still technically on the boat ramp. There's no other way to offload at low tide.
Beach and Inter-tidal zone Cleanup

A big thank you to all the volunteers who cleaned the garbage from the beach and inter-tidal zone!
It takes good planning and fore thought to be able to know that more garbage can be collected at low tide when the inter-tidal zone is exposed.
Cheers! And good job to all those who cared enough about the Gorge to attend!

While it is a great thing that people do this every year, it is not so great to have a pickup truck in the Intertidal Zone. Think for a minute about the damage you are doing to the ecosystem!
