Dear Cortes Islanders
The Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Program (NEPP) is intended to support neighbours to reach out and build resiliency within their neighbourhood. During a disaster your neighbours will be your most reliable and immediate source of help, until assistance from first responders arrives. NEPP is built for self-sufficiency.
On Tuesday April 16th the Strathcona Emergency Program will be hosting two Neighborhood Emergency Planning Program (NEPP) workshops. The focus will be to provide actions that your neighborhood can undertake to be better prepared to help each other out following a disaster, such as a major earthquake.
Agenda (each session will be the same)
• Shaun Koopman – SRD Emergency Coordinator: How NEPP
fits into emergency management
• Betsy Young – Quadra Island NEPP Coordinator: Lessons
Learned from the NEPP on Quadra Island
• Mary-Lu Lorenson and Marion Bennet: Progress and status of
their NEPP on Cortes Island
Time(s): 10:30 – 12:00pm and 3:00 - 4:30pm
Date: Tuesday, April 16th
