Uli Steghaus passed away in the morning of March 21, at Sagewood Strathmore, Alberta. She was 93. Uli and Hubert bought their special spot on Cortes in 1957 and moved here in 1988. She moved to Alberta in 2016 so she could be in a care facility close to her children. Her room overlooked a beautiful flower garden.
We will always remember her for her passion for gardening, her stories and her delicious cookies. Please sprinkle some flower seeds in your garden in her memory.

Uli was (and remains) inspiring -- a shining example for me of "how to grow old".

Remembering them both

Uli and Hubert were one of the first couples we met when we bought our property way back in 1987. Alden and I had many good times together with them over the years. Lots of memories. Farewell Uli.

Such a unique lady! I'm glad your last years were spent near the care of your family and now to be re-united with your beloved Hubert.

Sad thoughts, happy memories. Uli waving from the house at Hubert and Sully as they hoisted sails on the Monashee on their way to Heriot Bay Inn for the obligatory steak sandwich. Seeing the joy on Uli's face as you'd walk down the path amongst the magnificent gardens. The warmth of her Weihnachten; amazing Lebkuchen, squares, and her galaxy of cookies. I'll raise wee Asbach tonight.
