Several key Cortes Island issues have been placed on the agenda for the regular SRD Board meeting on Wednesday, March 13, 12:30 – 2:30 pm.
The Chief Administrative Officer, David Leitch, has provided reports on the RCMP investigation into voter fraud, the Cortes Island First Responder Service Bylaw No. 328, and the Cortes Island Community Hall Service Bylaw No. 341. Each of these reports can be viewed on the SRD Board Agenda for March 13.
There are also 2 reports from Director Anderson, one on the Cortes Island Local Economic Action Plan, and a second requesting that the Advisory Planning Council be reinstated and appointees to the APC be accepted by the SRD.
It is not known what direction the discussion will take place amongst the SRD Board, and whether there will be a vote on any of these agenda items. However, it is an active step forward and an indication that the SRD Staff are responding to the many letters of concern by Cortes Islanders, the 2 delegations, the media, and the presence of many Cortes Islanders at the SRD Board meetings.
Additionally, there are 3 letters under Correspondence submitted by Cortes Islanders, which have been received into the minutes, and can be viewed as well. Correspondence on the agenda does not necessarily indicate any discussion at the Board meeting.
This is a public meeting, and open to all concerned constituents and citizens to attend and add your presence as witnesses and support for Cortes Island democracy.
Do go to the SRD website to check the agenda and read the reports that have been filed.
