Death Caring Collective Bi-Monthly Meeting & Introduction >>>

Death & Dying - It’s a topic that affects us all, yet it's not given the attention it needs. We are a group of folks who are enthusiastic about opening up conversations about death, dying, and grief. We’d like to explore how to prepare for our own death, become knowledgeable about current practices, as well as alternative approaches, and generally become more comfortable with the subject, enabling us to live more vibrantly today.

We will provide a platform for conversations, educational courses and resources to support both ourselves and our community, in planning for death and death care. Let’s learn about end of life planning, home deaths, paperwork, navigating the healthcare system, natural burials, vigils, the approaches of other cultures, the spiritual dimensions of death, and so much more.

We feel that there is a rich well of knowledge and resources in this community, and we’d like to open up this group to create space to share these resources. We will strive to honour the diverse experiences of community members from all cultural, economic, religious and spiritual perspectives. We are an inclusive group, and everyone is welcome. We dream of creating a responsive team that the community may rely and call upon to assist in various aspects of on-island death care, planning, and ritual-ceremony.

Does this interest you? We invite you to join us at our emerging Cortes Island ‘Death Caring Collective’ upcoming events!

All events are ‘by-donation’ to assist in covering the cost of the space. *UPDATE* All donations will be given to the the Burkhart-Thorne family

No one will be turned away for lack of funds.**
