Happy New Year from the Tideline. It’s amazing how fast 2018 flew by. It was another year with great community events including the weekly markets, the May long weekend Seafood Festival, fun Cortes Day, a super low tide Sandcastle Day, and yes, another packed Christmas Dinner.

Visitors came, summer people returned and the year round residents enjoyed this little island paradise. BC Ferries added a summer Sunday morning run, people connected, art was made and sold, pies decorated, ice creams were enjoyed and fresh veggies grown and pickled.

There was an incredible amount of items sold and shared, items lost and treasures returned. So much amazing music, good stories and awesome gatherings happened. Of course there were a lot of meetings and AGM’s, workshops, lectures and kids activities. We survived another election and the power stayed on when the rest of rural BC was out.

Thanks to all of you submitting your ads, all the items you are selling, trading, the workshops you are giving. The classifieds and short notices on Tideline fill fast and are popular. The submissions are still increasing, every year there are so many items recycled, bought, sold and traded, thanks to this little online newspaper.

A big thank you to the people submitting the non profit community articles for the centre column, events, dances, updates, stories and notices. We all appreciate the time it takes you to write it out, to add the photos and to keep us informed and/or entertained! Especially to the people writing about topics that are sometimes controversial. Your articles are well read and shared among your neighbours and friends.

The top articles were about the Bylaws, the community housing, SRD topics and the Hall Tax. We learn about different experiences, points of views and how some things impact certain people. It’s not always easy to put your name to it. Roses to those who manage to share their experience while being respectful, kind and considerate. It is a fine art and I continue to admire your skill.

My last thank you is for everyone that helped in any way to get the Tideline back online after a major server issue in October. It was a very stressful week, and many of us put in a huge amount of time and effort to get it back as fast as we could. Hopefully that won’t happen again!

We would not be running the way we are without our sponsors. We appreciate their support and the Tideline would not get the time and energy it gets without them. Please support our sponsors, they make it happen together with your donations, thank you!

The Tideline gets checked and updated twice a day. If you submitted an ad and don't see it right away, please wait at least 12 hours before emailing us. If you still don't see your ad: did you forget to add your contact info? If so, it won't be posted. Email or phone number is required as well as your full name. (no, not just your initials)

Time sensitive ads? It is your job to post them on time....
A few days ahead of time is probably your best bet. A day before is still good. If you post it on the morning of……. it’s probably too late to get your message to a lot of people on time.

If you are missing all the classifieds: 99.9% chance you have Adblocker installed and need to add our url to the whitelist so we won’t get blocked.

You can always contact me: and I will try and get back to you within a day…

Have a great 2019. May it be filled with appreciation, surprise, love and many special winter nights (with power), great hikes, bountiful gardens and lazy summer afternoons with friends, family, loved ones and neighbours.
A Heartfelt Thank You
