Emergency Front-line Solidarity Action requested:
In a message received this morning (Saturday, Dec. 15), the Unist'ot'en Clan have announced that Justice Marguerite Church has approved an injunction against them and ruled that TransCanada/ Coastal GasLink can start site work preparation for its fracked gas pipeline on Unist’ot’en/ Wet’suwet’en territory as early as this Monday (Dec. 17). Church also ruled that the checkpoint gate on the Wedzin Kwah (Morice River) Bridge must come down within 72 hours. That will be 3:30 pm Dec. 17.
The Unist'ot'en Clan and Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Chiefs have asked all friends and allies to take immediate action to support them on the front-line. I would like to invite any folks who are interested in lending support to this cause to come to an emergency meeting tomorrow (Sunday December 16th) from 1pm-3pm, so that we can discuss fundraising for legal fees, collecting supplies to send up to the camp, and planning how we can assist anyone from our community who wishes to go to the front-line at this time. If you are interested in coming, please call me (Brittany) at 250-935-8598 or email me at kingbrittanygmail.com and I will send you more details. It will likely be stormy, so if you are not able to come out to the meeting tomorrow, but still want to participate in collective organizing around an emergency response, message me to let me know and I will share any decisions or actions that come out of the meeting.
