CCHA Family Support - Desta
This month's parenting group discussion topic is Positive Discipline.
We all hope that our child-parent relationships can be open, trusting and hold steady through the middle and adolescent years. We want our kids hearts to stay open to us and our parental influence to be stronger than that of modern culture and peers. This "relationship power" is ultimately all we have in shaping behavior and passing our values to our children. How does discipline fit into this? Do our discipline methods work to erode or build closeness and trust? Are they in alignment with what we know about stages of development and attachment?
Dayna Davis will facilitate this discussion and introduce development friendly and attachment safe approaches to discipline. How do consequences, grounding, punishments and time-outs work...or not work? Are there alternatives? This discussion will be of interest to parents of children toddler to teen. Bring your success stories and challenges to share with the group!
Dayna Davis is completing her Faclitator Training with The Gordon Neufeld Institute and has 30 years experience working with children.
