There are a very small number of copies of the 83 page SRD Bylaw 309 available on Cortes island that mean big changes to many of us. With almost no notice the SRD has presented a confusing assembly of changes that need to be looked at very closely. The Bylaw has already passed its second reading well before the only public hearing on Wednesday September 5, 1:00 PM at Manson’s Hall.
What’s the hurry? I can only guess that it’s full of winners and losers and that the SRD wants to get it passed before the election. If you are concerned about the effects of the new zoning changes to your property or those of friends and neighbours then call or email:

Thank you for alerting us to this!

I am only now really learning about this massive rezoning effort sprung on us with little notice apparently. As a Gorge Harbour property owner I am very concerned about what this might mean for our peace and enjoyment of our property, as we look out directly on the shellfish operations in the bay. I encourage all Gorge Harbour property owners and residents to attend the meeting on the 5th and object to this aspect of the rezoning.
