I called the wildfire service and had a very informative discussion. BC Parks has decided not to manage the fire in Pendrell due to steep terrain, and not wanting to intrude on the natural ecological process in the reserve. The Wildfire service also assured me that the fire was a ground fire and fall is coming... cooler shorter days and rain
I learned that the wildfire service updates an interactive map with all the fires in the area. There's a couple big fires worth looking at up the Bute Inlet. Those fires are much larger approx 1000 hectares. they are being left to burn for the same reasons. (difficult and sensitive terrain, and not near any population centers)
