It's hard to believe that this was our 9th annual harbour cleanup... the time flies! But Julia reminded me that the shellfish growers organized annual cleanups starting back around 1998!
Many thanks to all who came out yesterday to show their love for the harbour. A special thanks goes out to Tom and Hubert for getting the ball rolling while we were chasing ferries, the Gorge Harbour Marina for providing coffee and BBQ facilities, and to the Harbour Authority of Cortes Island for sponsoring us this year.
We had a great turnout with representatives from all of our stakeholder groups - from live aboards to upland residents, to shellfish growers and Cortes Islanders from afar. We had less debris than previous years, largely thanks to the individuals who went out after the winter storms and picked up. Many, many thanks to all!!
