Helen Friends of Cortes Island
Friends of Cortes Island (FOCI) is inviting applications from the community for seats on the Cortes Island Parks and Trails Committee.
The deadline for applications has been extended to Friday Feb 16th.
FOCI has informally hosted a Cortes Parks and Trails Committee with our Regional Director, Noba Anderson, for the past few years. We are now moving to formalize its work so that the committee has greater clarity of focus and effectiveness.
FOCI is committed to supporting this initiative which will provide an overview for parks and trails planning, maintenance and development on the island. We anticipate that it will meet 2-4 times per year.
To support the establishment of this committee we have adopted a Terms of Reference, which is attached. It outlines the vision, scope of activities and reporting relationships, as well as membership composition, which aims to include representatives from the following: Whaletown Community Club, Southern Cortes Community Association, Klahoose First Nation, Cortes Forestry General Partnership, Strathcona Regional District, BC Parks and FOCI.
The committee also has a few seats available for interested members of the Cortes Island community.
So, if you are interested in parks and trails and would like to get involved, please submit expressions of interest to: friendsofcortesgmail.com
Please explain why you would like join the committee, and briefly outline:
• Any parks and trails experience you have
• Your familiarity with the island
• Your ability to work collaboratively and
positively in a group
Many thanks for considering this call for applications. We look forward to hearing from you!
